What should I do if I take the wrong dose of insulin?

​​Don’t panic.

Check your blood glucose. 

If you did not take enough insulin, your glucose levels may be high. You may need to talk to your doctor about taking more insulin. 

If you took too much insulin, you may need to eat more and check your blood glucose more often. 

If your blood glucose is below 70 mg/dL or above 180 mg/dL, please use your purple box or the instructions on the Treating Low or High Blood Glucose page to get your blood glucose back in the healthy range.

Call 911 right away if you think you are having a medical emergency.
