What causes low blood glucose (sugar)?
Low blood glucose, or low blood sugar, is called hypoglycemia. It is when your blood glucose is below 70 mg/dL.
Low blood glucose (hypoglycemia) may happen if:
you do not eat enough food
you take too much insulin or other diabetes medicine
you are more active than usual
you drink alcohol
This may happen very quickly and could cause you to pass out if you do not treat right away.
